Positive Thinking for Positive Results - Part 2

Positive affirmations have long been in existence and use since time immemorial. In fact, many great people throughout time have taken advantage of positive affirmations and strongly believed in the power of the mind. Positive affirmations, to some, may also be called incantations, verbal rituals or daily mantra. Whichever you want to call it, these statements all serve the same purpose – to feed your subconscious mind and push you to act in order for you to achieve your desires.
Using the power of the mind, such as working with positive affirmations can greatly pave the way towards creating a positive change in your life. Positive affirmations can work when you use it properly and maintain a steady pace. The power of the mind, with respect to positive affirmations, lies not only in its ability to create circumstances or events that let you achieve what you truly want but it also helps get rid of negative thinking as well. Once you become familiar with this mental process, use it properly and maintain a steady pace then you are more likely to experience meaningful, long lasting results.
Perhaps a reason why not a lot of people truly understand the concept of positive affirmations is because it is shrouded with many common misconceptions. Many people believe that positive affirmations may be used to control someone else’s behavior. The thing is that affirmations cannot be used to compel someone else to act on something. For instance, you cannot say affirmations if your goal is to make someone notice you nor if you want someone to do what you want them to do.
Affirmations cannot be used to control the life of someone else or the lives of other people, for that matter. This is because you cannot control other people’s subconscious mind. Moreover, you cannot even say an affirmation to change a thing that has already happened or fix what has already been broken. However, you can work with positive affirmations to create a better future for yourself. You have the power to change your life for the better, and with believing in the power of the mind, you really can.
Positive affirmations work best when they have a strong connection to you as well as your behavior and goals. Positive affirmations work most effectively when you focus and channel them in a way that you are responsible for your actions and your projected outcome.
For instance, if your goal is improving your romantic relationship with your partner in a way that you want him or her to better understand you, then you cannot say an affirmation that would appear as if you were telling him or her to understand you more. Again, keep in mind that you cannot change or control someone else with a positive affirmation. Instead, use positive affirmations to improve or change yourself in your relationship.

Rather than trying to change someone else, you must focus on yourself as well as your actions. In the given example above, you may say something like you are finding a way to help your partner understand you better or listen to you. At this point, two things are taking place here –firstly, you have taken such affirmation and fed it to your subconscious so that you can be able to improve your case. Secondly, you have also sent your subconscious mind a signal to provide you action that would correspond with how you want your outcome to be like.
What happens next is that you begin to act on things that would lead you to the result that you want to attain. This step is not the same as when you say that your partner should be listening to you. In this case, you are not actually doing anything - you are only taking the same course of action and trying to get your partner to do something but you may not be getting the outcome that you desire.
Your affirmations must reflect what you are capable of doing as well as the things you can do to achieve the outcome that you desire. Say for example, you want to do better at work. You can make a good start by simply saying that you are doing better at work but you may also make such affirmation that will reflect an action by saying you know what you will do to do better at work and that you are now doing the and that you are now doing what should really be done to be better in your work environment.
Moreover, your affirmations must be simple and precise as much as possible. They do not have to be necessarily complicated and long otherwise you might not be able to note them. A lot of people make a mistake of making really long affirmations only to forget them later on. What is important is that it should reflect what you really want to happen as well as the things that you can do to actually make it happen.
When creating affirmations, concentrate on what you really want as well as the outcome you desire, not the other way around. Make it a habit to say your affirmations repeatedly. There are some who say their affirmations to themselves while there are also others who say it aloud or record and play them whenever they get the chance to listen to them. Whichever way you prefer, it is important that you clearly understand the mental processes that go about with positive affirmations otherwise your methods might go in vain.
For instance, if you record your affirmations on tape but do not really know about the concept of positive affirmations, what do you think might happen if you stop playing your record? Chances are that you are more likely to return to your old thinking patterns and the positive messages contained in the tapes may be erased.
This is because your mind may not have been properly trained yet with focusing on what you really want as well as creating affirmations that would correspond to the outcome that you desire. You may not have conditioned your mind yet to becoming familiar with saying affirmations. Especially for beginners, it may be best to say your affirmations to
yourself first. When you condition your mind to always think and stay positive, then it will eventually stop entertaining negative thoughts. Moreover, you will also get used to saying your affirmations as well.
It is normal if you feel that saying your affirmations does not have an impact on you. You may still be going through the phase in which you are initially excited about saying your affirmations and having them absorbed by your subconscious. This, then should be the time that you must continue saying your affirmations as much as possible because the more the subconscious absorbs them, the more it will be ready to act on them as well.
Keep track of your results and see whether there have been changes or improvements in aspects of your life that you have been specifically focusing your affirmations on. Note even the slightest improvement, as it is still a positive sign. The trick to not becoming bored with your affirmations is to always have fun with them and keep them fresh.
