3 Self Empowerment Techniques To Help You Beat Procrastination
When a person has a decision to make and desires a certain outcome, then turns away and ignores taking action, the end results can be more disastrous than they realize. Not only does this person ruin another opportunity to empower themselves by making a decision in taking a risk, they also get what they put in - nothing. So the question to ask here is how does a person become confident and less insecure so that they can stop procrastinating on important decisions goals that could change their life for the better? Below are a few ideas to get you started in the right direction: 1. For starters, you must come to the realization that your "comfort zone" is about to be disrupted. Most people who are insecure about attempting the unknown are procrastinating because they are afraid to change their routine in life. This is what psychologists call the comfort zone. People subconsciously, and even consciously, prefer familiar surroundings, familiar events, and unfortunately, familiar choices - even if they know the choices will hurt them. 2. Be prepared for some losses. We become insecure about changes because we don't want to let go of what we have. This is true even for those things in our life that are bad for us. A perfect example here is looking at abusive relationships. Why do so many women, and some men, stay in relationships that only hurt them? Why do they procrastinate and never make a change? This is because they are in their comfort zone and do not want to let go of familiarity. Too many people consider the idea of losing what they "know" to be more scary than leaving a negative situation altogether. Procrastination can truly be an evil force in many situations. 3. Last but not least, motivate yourself! Get excited! Life does not wait for you and I can make our move. Before you know it, years ago by and you wonder where all the time went and why you haven't started all of those things that you were excited about doing. After years of this, procrastination takes its toll and becomes a habit that drains our motivation and our self-confidence. Part of the formula that helps overcome procrastination habits is to change your perception about the future. Replace fear with excitement. Exchange worry with curiosity. And finally, ignore thoughts of failure and instead think about the outcome that you would like to see happen. Just get excited! |
