I work in a customer service job and there’s a lot of stress, especially lately. Does anyone have suggestions how to handle the stress in customer service to keep from losing it

as long as you keep in mind that you are better than those who give you hard times, then you will no longer have hard times. pride and ego baby all the way!

did you ever see the stress balls? Ya know the ones that are like foam? I use to use that until someone really pissed me off and I threw it….I hit my own cubicle but scared my co workers. My office was really laid back and stress is VERY common. I also use to take markers and a drawing pad and draw in between calls.

I used to work in a customer service position in a complaint center, 10 hour days and it can be extremely stressful. I eventually had to quit because I just couldn’t take it anymore. You have to learn not to take it personally when someone on the line is very rude and insulting to you. You have to let each call go. Try to put a smile on your face and offer the best customer service you can. If it is being too hard for you, maybe this is not the right job for you. Good luck.

Hi, i understand what its like coz i work in a call centre and have to be nice to ppl all day. When i get some a$$hole call up and be rude to me i’m nice but kinda sarcastic to em….but when they get off the phone i say out loud what i would have liked to say to their face….it makes all my co workers who sit near me laugh….like a few days ago i was talking to this rude biatch who thought she knew everything…when i got off the phone to her i was like “f*** stupid old biatch, go get laid u grumpy c**t….” u get the idea…..
Also i have a stress ball which i squese and throw at a wall if im really pissed off….. goodluck

I have been in retail since I was 12 years old. I am now 47. I have always found one thing to be true. The job and the long hours and the bosses can be crap, but mostly(about 90% of the time) the customers are the best part. All you need to do is smile and they are great. Oh,there are major jerks out there that are never satisfied and seem to be out to get anyone in their path, but thank God for the good ones or I would have jumped the counter a long time ago and started beating a customer to his or her knees and then tossing them out the door. Sometimes I would love to do this. I am guilty of thinking it while they are there, but I manage to turn my face away.Your best bet is to just keep a smile on your face,be as polite and charming as possible, and as soon as they are gone, take a big breath and kick something or just grab some cardboard and tear it to pieces. It always helps to keep in mind that the day WILL end sooner or later.

You can use music, meditation, exercise and relaxation as tools to release tension thus reducing stress.
Music helps to lift your spirits and release the pressure of your work life.
Meditation can be used to protect you from anxiety.
Exercise help to release physical tension, while strengthening the body.
You should be able to release your work stress by taking time to relax your body and mind.
