How to stress rat for psychological study?
I am beginning a psychology study on learning and using rats. I was wondering what is a good and easy (non-harmful) way to cause stress in one group of rats?
We were thinking of comparing stressed / non-stressed rats on the water maze, and can not think of a way to stress them out.

Sleep disruption. Still, I hate to think of you hurting any living thing.

Prevent it from sleeping and put it in a maze where it must find it’s food. Then when it comes close remove the food!

Try rock music compared to classical and control groups.

These aren’t studies a lay person can do. It takes tens of thousands of dollars to conduct a real study like the one you’re talking about and specialized equipment. Nor are these studies that you need to do. They have been done. A lot.
I hope this isn’t for school. Most schools don’t allow students to use live animals in science projects anymore.
